The inspiration behind BEARPAW dates back to a fateful encounter at Lake Tahoe in 2001. Founder Tom Romeo found himself at a crossroads, seeking a sign to guide him on his path. While meditating on a special rock by the lake, a bear appeared and gazed at him before moving on peacefully. This encounter led Tom to discover the symbolism of a bear crossing, representing good luck and strength as a guide in times of uncertainty. Inspired by this experience, Tom founded BEARPAW as a tribute to the bear that brought him clarity.

The first BEARPAW boot, named EVA, was created shortly after and has since evolved into the popular ELLE boot. Both styles embody the warmth and effortless style that defines the BEARPAW lifestyle.
